Somerville Community Corporation (SCC) is able to succeed thanks to the support and hard work of an array of allies and partners. It is through these relationships that we are able to forge deep-rooted involvement, create an organized voice, and develop affordable housing. Partnerships

We partner with a number of other local organizations, depending on the project or program. The organizations with which we work most closely include:

  • Centro Presente is a member-driven, state-wide Latin American immigrant organization dedicated to the self-determination and self-sufficiency of Massachusetts's Latin American immigrant community.
  • Community Action Agency of Somerville works to reduce poverty among local families and individuals while working to counteract - and whenever possible, eliminate - the societal conditions that cause and perpetuate poverty.
  • Greater Boston Legal Services provides free civil (non-criminal) legal assistance to low-income people in Boston and thirty-one additional cities and towns.
  • Groundwork Somerville aims to build sustainable communities through joint environmental action.
  • LIFT student advocates work side-by-side with low-income community members to address members' immediate needs and chart a sustainable path out of poverty.
  • Save Our Somerville is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a voice to those who feel they have no voice in Somerville.
  • Somerville Center for Adult Learning Experiences (SCALE) provides classes and support services to adult students (16 years and older), who need basic reading, writing and math skills, English instruction for non-native speakers or a high-school credential.
  • Somerville Community Health Agenda is a partnership between Cambridge Health Alliance, Somerville Health Department and the community that facilitates collaborative community processes to improve the health of Somerville residents.
  • Somerville Transportation Equity Partnership (STEP) is a community group fighting for improved transportation in Somerville.
  • Somerville Homeless Coalition transforms lives by providing services, support, resources and housing to well over 600 men, women and children.
  • Somerville Mental Health Association is a community-based nonprofit that provides mental health and substance abuse services to individuals that live or work in Somerville.
  • The Welcome Project is a community-based initiative, based in the Mystic Public Housing Development, to welcome and support our new residents of Haiti, Central America, Viet Nam and other parts of the world in countering discrimination and harassment.
